Step 4: Manage your domain name features

NetNation's domain name registrations include a standard parking page. This page is generated automatically when your registration is processed and will be viewable as soon as your domain name information has propagated throughout the Internet. Tell me more about propagation.

NetNation's domain name registrations also provide you access to a number of special features, including:

Domain forwarding

Business Card Parking Page

InstantSite

You can access all of these features in AccountManager's Domain Name section. Click Domain Name in the left menu of AccountManager. The Domain Name Management page appears.



Domain forwarding

Domain name forwarding enables you to point your domain name to an existing Web site. When people type your domain name in their browsers, they will automatically be forwarded to the domain you specify. You can set up domain forwarding or one of either a Business Card Parking Page or Instant Site.

To forward your domain:

  1. In AccountManager, click Domain Name.
  2. On the Domain Name Management page, click Setup Domain Forwarding.
  3. Enter the URL to the Web site you want your domain forwarded to and the click Add Domain Forwarding.

Business card park page

The Business Card Park Page feature enables you to quickly set up a one-page Web site to display general information about you business. You can select from a number of pre-designed templates and then enter the text you want to appear on your home page. You can set up either a Business Card Park Page or an InstantSite, but not both. If you have already set up an InstantSite but would like Business Card Park Page instead, you can delete the InstantSite at any time.

To set up a business card park page:

  1. In AccountManager, click Domain Name.
  2. On the Domain Name Management page, click Manage Business Card Park Page.
  3. Select the template you want to use and then click Next.
  4. Select an image to appear on your park page and then click Next.
  5. Enter Title, Header, Body and Footer text as necessary.
  6. Click Complete to build and upload your park page.


InstantSite

The optional InstantSite feature enables you to quickly set up a one-page Web site that includes various content, including your personal contact information, dynamic "real-time" news and up to four links to other Web sites. You can set up either an InstantSite or a Business Card Park Page, but not both. If you have already set up a Business Card Park Page but would like an InstantSite instead, you can delete the Business Card Park Page at any time.

To set up an InstantSite:

  1. In AccountManager, click Domain Name.
  2. On the Domain Name Management page, click Setup InstantSite.
  3. In the Body Information field, enter text to display on your InstantSite.
  4. In the Contact Information field, enter your contact information.
  5. In the US Zip Code field, enter your zip code.
  6. In the Syndicated Content section, select the types of news to include on your InstantSite.
  7. In the Your Personal Links section, enter up to four links to other Web sites. In the Link Name field, enter text for the link. Then, in the Link URL field, enter the full URL to the site. For example, http://www.netnation.com.
  8. Click Update InstantSite Configuration to create your InstantSite and automatically upload it to your account.
